A Busy Weekend at North House Folk School
|
April 15-17 |
Get involved with all sorts of artful and helpful activities during this North House service learning
and volunteer weekend. Forge Ahead
in the Blacksmith Shop, where you’ll build workbenches
for the metalworkers, and create timbered benches for
the Student Commons. You’ll be helping create two new classroom spaces in
the Blacksmith Shop and new kitchen space in the Fish House. You’ll also be doing a
little “boat souping,” painting, boat maintenance, cleaning and gardening. There’s a potluck pizza
lunch and the good feeling of knowing you’re starting the season
off right.

Natural Wonder
Every day, all spring long! |
Migration moves along Lake Superior’s shores and calls us all to escape our winter habitat for awhile. Welcome ducks, loons, mergansers and more in the best places for big-lake birding: the Grand Marais Harbor, Artist’s Point, Paradise Beach and the Hovland Dock. It’s a quiet time along the shore—at least in regard to the crowds—and you can be one-on-one with nature as winter turns to waterfall time.

Gunflint Greenup
May 6-7 on the Gunflint Trail |
There’s no better way to renew yourself than to watch the Gunflint wilderness spring back into life. It
also helps to get your hands dirty:
Register by April 22, and help us plant trees in the Ham Lake
Fire area.
