Radio Waves Music Fest and Unplugged X: The Northern Harvest

September 9-18, 2011 • Grand Marais, Minnesota

Nature won’t be the only soundtrack in Cook County this fall. From September 9-18, guitars, drums, pianos and crooning voices will join the North Shore’s chorus of crashing waves during this ten-day celebration of music, craft, and community.

With a nationally broadcast public radio show, live performances by acclaimed artists and two music festivals bookending a week’s worth of arts, crafts, workshops, dining, outdoor activities and the breathtaking beauty of a Cook County autumn, the ways to participate are as unlimited as your imagination.

Highlights

Radio Waves Music Festival, featuring a diverse and talented line-up of North Shore musicians on September 10 & 11.

10th Anniversary Unplugged X music festival,
September 15 – 18. The line-up features live music performances by internationally recognized stars: Great Lake Swimmers, John Gorka, Kathy Mattea, Jon Vezner, Lindsay Mac, Michael Johnson, Tim O’Brien and more.

Unplugged X includes two live broadcasts of National Public Radio’s folk, roots and Americana music radio show, Mountain Stage.

Workshop led by celebrated Minnesotan guitar-maker, Jim Olson, whose instruments have been played by Sting, Justin Hayward, David Crosby and Paul McCartney. Olson are the exclusive guitars of James Taylor.

More than 20 special Unplugged music workshops and mini-courses presented by the North House Folk School, including fiddle and mandolin workshops, guitar skills, wood-fire baking, basketry and more!
